Hijab- The 'thing'

I'm looking at some people on the internet in their "hijabs" and I feel nauseated!
Because what I see is young girls obsessed with their appearance, even while they claim to be in "hijab".
I don't want my daughter to be that way about her appearance, just like I don't want her to be anorexic.

Listen, if hijab means not ever showing even one strand of your hair, then it also means not wearing tight clothes, or make-up, not to flash your beauty and not talking in your sweetest voice on a public platform like youtube!!
Personally, I feel hijab is about 'haya', the same concept of being moderate that Islam has about every other aspect of life. A muslim is expected to be moderate about every thing, and not be obsessive about any thing, ANY thing of this world.... That includes yourself, your family, your body, your home, your kids, your appearance, even your religion (Remember: it is not favorable to leave dunya and live alone in a desert)

There is no use in leaving the obsession for your hair, just to start obsessing about your head cover.
If it's not too good to beautify yourself in tight or revealing clothes, then it's equally unfavourable to beautify yourself in loose or 'allowed' clothes as well- the point being beautifying and not what kind of clothes!!

I don't know if I can ever clarify what I feel about it. You want Islam, okay. You want to act upon everything Allah has commanded to do, great! Now decide how you're going to do that and live that life!

It's a shame if we Muslims criticize fashion or film industry for wasting too much money, but ourselves fail to realize what the cost of one of our new flashy headscarf or abaya can mean for a malnourished child, a diseased child waiting for just penicillin, waiting for vaccination, a poor girl hoping for a wedding, a homeless man. If the ummah of the last prophet has become immune to that pain, then do we even deserve to be called that? Isn't there more useful places to use that money instead of performing hajj every year (which is obligatory just once in a life time).

Ya Allah, please guide us to the right path! Please make us understand the simplicity of your way of life, the beauty of being what you intended us to be!
Ya Allah! Please help me prioritize my life, my deen right.
Ya Allah! Let us be such people who first fit the criteria of being a good human being, before shouting out the word 'Muslim'. You are the one we seek help from, You are the only capable of doing that.
Aameen.
